Ocicat

An Ocicat came about by crossing a chocolate point Siamese with a Abyssinian which gives the appearance of a wildcat, but it is not wild at all. This cat is actually very much domesticated and loves being part of a family. By looking at them you would expect them to have a ferocious personality, but their appearance is deceiving. They are actually very loving and sweet, and act more like a dog than a cat. They are actually known to learn and respond to verbal commands and they are able to be trained to walk on a leash. Since they are highly intelligent they thrive on learning tricks. They are very outgoing and devoted to their family and are not bashful with strangers. They don't like being left alone for long periods of time because they are a people person. The Ocicat has an athletic build, is very large, muscular, spotted cat that is one of the largest of the shorthair breed. The female breed weighs between 6 to 8 pounds and the male can get as big as 10 to 15 pounds. They are full grown when they reach 18 months old. The Ocicat is a beautiful feline and comes in over 12 different colors that are recognized for show. These colors include tawny, chocolate, lavender, blue, cinnamon, fawn, silver, silver chocolate, cinnamon silver, blue silver, lavender silver, and fawn silver. Since they are a short hair breed they require very little grooming. They are easy to care for as they don't require a special diet and they also have very good genetics. You will have very little health problems because of their good breeding. They are a very happy breed and want to interact with people, other animals, and aren't afraid of new people who come over, they are curious and want to be where the action is. The Ocicat is a highly intelligent animal and thrives on being part of the family. They are likely to bond with each member of the family, not just one. They will get along well with all members of the family. If you are a cat lover and are looking for something exotic you will love the Ocicat. If you have young children at home they are very tolerant of them, more so than any other cat. They desire attention and affection and will quickly learn the house rules. They are meant to be indoor cats only and that is the best way to keep them safe. The Ocicat continues to gain popularity and acceptance worldwide because they closely resemble the jungle cat, and their wonderful, sociable nature. They may look like a wild jungle cat but that is so far from the truth, they are an amazing breed with a loving, gentle personality.
